From Press Release

West Chester junior goalkeeper Jessica Gorr (Bishop Shanahan) was named the Defensive Athlete of the Week for the Eastern Division of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tuesday afternoon.

Fresh off her national honor as defensive athlete of the week in all of Division II last Tuesday, Gorr turned in a stellar performance, making 11 saves over the course of two WCU victories. On Wednesday vs. Millersville, Gorr made four big stops to slow the Marauders’ offense – saving her best performance for Saturday at No. 4 East Stroudsburg.

Gorr was credited with seven stops and limited one of the PSAC’s top scoring offenses to less than half of its usual output (averaging 16 goals per game, but scoring just seven against the Golden Rams). Gorr also tied for the team lead in ground balls, coming away with five while helping direct the Golden Rams clears throughout the afternoon as West Chester turned in a solid 17-for-21 effort in the road victory.

Gorr remained perfect in the cage for the Golden Rams, improving to 7-0 overall (now 8-0 after Tuesday’s 21-3 win over Shepherd). Her save percentage climbed to .517 percent before Tuesday’s win, and her goals-against average has dipped to 8.20. She has now made 61 saves on the year and has scooped up 26 ground balls – which ranks third on the team in 2022.

She has West Chester ranked second in goals-against average and third in save percentage in the PSAC. She ranks second in the PSAC individually in goals-against average, behind ESU’s Bella Gismondi. However, Gorr has played in three more games and over 117 more minutes in the cage.
