It will be champs versus champs when the nation’s top men’s and women’s lacrosse players come to USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, MD., for the 2022 Fall Classic from Oct. 14-16. The event features the reigning world champion USA men’s and women’s teams, the reigning NCAA champions Maryland (men) and North Carolina (women) along with the USA Select U16 and U18 teams playing international competition from the Haudenosaunee Nation and Ontario in the Brogden Cup.

Here’s the schedule of ticketed games at Tierney Field for Fall Classic:

Friday, Oct. 14

  • 7 pm: USA Men’s Showcase

Saturday, Oct. 15

  • 9:30 am: USA Men Blue vs. Maryland
  • 12 pm: USA Women vs. North Carolina
  • 2:30 pm: USA Men White vs. Maryland

Adult tickets for USA Lacrosse members are $15 daily or $25 for the weekend and student tickets (ages 6-17) for USA Lacrosse members are $10 daily or $15 for the weekend. Non-member adult tickets are $25 daily and $35 for the weekend with student prices remaining the same at $10 daily and $15 for the weekend. Children 5 and under do not require a ticket.

The U.S. men’s team is beginning a critical stretch of training and evaluation leading into next summer’s World Lacrosse Men’s Championship in San Diego. More than 50 players are expected to compete during the weekend, including seven athletes from the U.S. team that won gold in the last World Lacrosse Men’s Championship in 2018 — Trevor Baptiste, Jesse Bernhardt, Michael Ehrhardt, Marcus Holman, Jack Kelly, Rob Pannell and Tom Schreiber.

They’ll face a Maryland team that won the NCAA title last May following a dominant 18-0 season and returns six USILA All-Americans — John Geppert, Kyle Long, Brett Makar, Logan McNaneny, Luke Wierman and Ajax Zappitello.

The U.S. women’s team captured its fourth straight world championship earlier this year and while some of the stars have retired from the national team program following the world championship, it will still boast a star-studded lineup. All-world midfielder Marie McCool (Moorestown) and past Tewaaraton Award winners Sam Apuzzo and Charlotte North are expected to suit up for the USA.

North Carolina completed a perfect season in 2022, going 22-0 on its way to the national title. IWLCA All-American defender Emily Nalls returns to lead the Tar Heels, who also boast a trio of USA U19 gold medal winners in Elizabeth Hillman, Brooklyn Neumen and Caitlyn Wurzburger.

It will be a special weekend for Jenny Levy, who coached the North Carolina and U.S. team to their respective championships this year. She will be inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame on Saturday night.

In addition to the Fall Classic, the Brogden Cup will be held that weekend, featuring the USA Select U16 and U18 men’s and women’s teams competing with teams representing the Haudenosaunee Nationals and Ontario.

The Brodgen Cup schedule opens with the Haudenosaunee and Ontario teams playing at USA Lacrosse headquarters in the afternoon on Oct. 14. All 12 teams will be in competition at St. Paul’s School on Oct. 15 and the action concludes on Sunday, Oct. 16 with eight games at USA Lacrosse headquarters. Admission for the Brodgen Cup games is free of charge.
