The 10th annual Play for the As event will be held Saturday at Ridley High School in Folsom.
The event fully supports those struggling with Alzheimer’s disease, which is a brain disorder that slowly destroys thinking and memory skills. It is currently the 6th leading cause of death in the U.S. (now affecting over 6 million Americans) and the 3rd leading cause of death among older people (behind only heart disease and cancer).
The event – created by Ridley coach Jef Hewlings while he was coach at nearby Strath Haven has raised nearly $130,000 to support the families of those caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease. PFAs works directly with The Community’s Foundation to allocate financial resources to families in the region who show a financial need for funding.
This year’s event features 4 varsity HS games:
10:00 am – Springfield-Delco vs. Pennridge (boys)
12:00 pm – Ridley vs. Penn Charter (boys)
2:00 pm – Strath Haven vs. Mt. St. Joseph-MD (boys)
4:00 pm – Ridley vs. Interboro (girls)
