Philly girls among first signing class for University of South Florida

The University of South Florida head women’s lacrosse coach Mindy McCord, announced the signing of the 2023-24 inaugural class on National Signing Day.

The signing class of 20 spans across 11 states, with the most coming from New Jersey. Maryland follows with three. The class includes two goalies, three attackers, five midfielders, three defenders, and seven two-way players.  

“We are thrilled to have such an outstanding group of young women to represent our first recruiting class and inaugural team,” said McCord. “This class spans 11 states and is comprised of players and families who are ready to put USF on the map and create a legacy.” 

The recruiting class will arrive on campus in fall 2023 and will spend the first-year training and playing exhibition matches in their spring season. The first competitive season will be the 2024-25 season. 

Taylor DeMarco | #5 | D | Lumberton, N.J. | South Jersey Select Lacrosse Club  

A four-year defender for Rancocas Valley Regional High School under head coach Sara Shelley… She led her team in caused turnovers and ground balls…She earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team…In the classroom, she was named to the National Honor Society, the Italian National Honor Society, and the Science National Honor Society…Played for the South Jersey Select Lacrosse Club under head coach KC Knobloch. 

 

Claire Natoli | #6 | M | Doylestown, PA | Dynasty Elite  

A three-year midfielder for the Cardinal O’Hara Lions under head coach Jen Duckenfield…During her sophomore and junior season, she led her high school team in draw controls, caused turnovers, and ground balls…So far she has scored 74 goals and 61 assists in two years…She was a member of the 2022 MVP Philadelphia Catholic League, 2022 MVP PASLA League, 2022 All-Academic PASLA team, 2022 First Team All-Delco…She earned All-Delco Honors in 2021…She is a member of the Dynasty Elite Lacrosse Club…Academically, she has earned the President’s Award, Lamp of Learning Award, Principal’s Award, as well as being named a Kindness Ambassador…She was a member of the All-Academic PASLA and the National Honor Society. 

Elle Trzaskawka | #33 | A | Medford, N.J. | South Jersey Select  

A three-year attacker for Shawnee High School under head coach Julie Cancila…Has scored 49 goals, 53 assists, and 102 total points…In 2022, she earned a spot on the Olympic Conference Second Team…Also in 2022, she was in the Top 15 in the state in assists with 50…She also led her team in assists…Her 44 goals in 2022 was the second most on her team…She was named to the National Honor Society…Plays for South Jersey Select Lacrosse Club under head coach KC Knoblach…In the 2022 National Cup Championship, she was named the Player of the Game as well as earning a spot on eh All-Tournament Team…Earned a spot on the Nike Elite 120 and the Brine All-American National Lacrosse Classic. 

Brooke Hill | #34 | G | Skillman, N.J. | Dynasty Elite 

A four-year goalie for Montgomery High School under head coach Joe Riccardi…In 2022, she earned the honor of being named Most Valuable Player…Plays for the Dynasty Elite Lacrosse Club under head coach Jennifer Duckenfield. 

Ansley Knor | #1| M/D | Acworth, Ga. | Eagle Stix 

A three-year midfielder/defender for Kell High School under head coach Marybeth Stier…She was named the Defensive Most Valuable Player…She earned a spot on the All-County First Team and The All-State Second Team…Is a member of the National Honor Society and the Honor Roll…Plays for Eagle Six under head coach Sarah Michel. 

Ava Moran | #2 | A/M | Delray Beach, Fla. | Florida Select Lacrosse Club  

A two-year attacker for Saint Andrews under head coach Matt Belando…In her junior year, she has scored 42 goals and 31 assists…She earned a spot on the All-District First Team…She plays for Florida Select Lacrosse Club under head coach John McClain. 

Madison Broyhill | #3 | A/M | Ashburn, Vir. | Pride Girls Lacrosse  

A three-year attacker for Riverside High School under head coach Kristan Ash…In her career, she has scored 120 goals, 19 assists, nine draw controls, 23 groundballs, 18 caused turnovers…In 2021, she was named to the All-District Second Team and the All-Region Second Team…In 2021 she improved to the All-District First Team, All-Region First Team, and All-State First Team…She set the Riverside High School single-season scoring record in 2022…She plays for Pride Girls Lacrosse under head coach Katie McMahon…She is a member of the National Honor Society. 

Kerrigan Gilmore | #4 | M | Fort Pierce, Fla. | Florida Select  

A four-year midfielder at Vero Beach High School under head coach Shannon Dean…Helped her team play in the state championships two years in a row…She was named to the National Honor Society and the Principal Honor Roll…Played for Florida Select Lacrosse Club under head coach John McClain. 

Catherine Taylor | #8 | D | Woodbine, MD. | Hero’s Lacrosse  

A four-year defender for Glenelg High School under head coach Alex Pagnotta… Member of the 2021 & 2022 Howard County Champions… Member of the Hero’s 2023 Green Lacrosse Club under head coach Helenmarie Hahn…She was a member of the 2016 & 2022 Lax For the Cure Champions… Her club team was voted the 2021 #1 ranked club team for 2023 America (US Club Lacrosse)…Member of the 2020 Washington D.C. Under Armor All-American Team as well as the 2019 FCA National Team Member…She was a member of the 2021 & 2022 National Honor Society and the 2019-2022 Principal’s Honor Roll. 

Haley Urban | #9 | A | Salisbury, M.D. | Maryland United 

A three-year attacker for Parkside High School under head coaches Mark and Andrea Urban…Was named to the Bayside Conference First Team…Plays for Maryland United Lacrosse Club. 

Jordan Salisbury | #10 | M | Lorton, Vir. | VA Metro Black Lacrosse  

A four-year midfielder for South County High School under head coach Oliva Harpel… So far in her career, she has scored 89 goals, 43 assists, and won 28 draw controls…She has led her team in goals, assists and draw controls in her sophomore and junior seasons…She was named to the All-District First Team, All-Region Second Team… In her sophomore year, she was named the Offensive Player of the Year…After her junior campaign , she was voted the Most Outstanding Player… She is a member of the VA Metro Black Lacrose Club under head coach Ryan Sobel…She is the 2023 Lacrosse Leader…Her club team is the Laxin’ Out Loud Tournament Champions. 

Amanda Ettinger | #11 | M/D | Seaford, N.Y. | LI Yellow Jackets Thorn  

A five-year midfielder/ defender for Seaford High School under head coach Jenna Davis…Was named to the All-County Team twice…Is a member of the National Honor Society and High Honor Roll…Plays for the Long Island Yellow Jackets Thorn Lacrosse club under head coaches Tim Colbert and Becky Thorn. 

Nicole Baudo | #12 | M/D | Wantagh, N.Y. | Long Island Yellow Jackets  

A four-year midfielder/defender for Wantagh High School Warriors…Also plays club lacrosse for the Long Island Yellow Jackets under head coach Lindsay Rella…She was a member of the National Honor Society…Her father played lacrosse at Hofstra. 

Bailey Morris | #13 | M | Dublin, Ohio | Lucky Lax 

A three-year midfielder for Dublin Coffman High School under head coach Adam Bealsey…In her career, she has scored 96 points, 81 goals, and 15 assists… She averages four goals, five draw controls, and two caused turnovers per game…In her junior year, she was named to the All-OCC first team, All-Region First Team, All-State Second Team, and USA Lacrosse All-American….Also during her junior season, she broke the school record points and goals in a season…She was an All-Region Honorable Mention in her sophomore campaign…She helped her team the Division I Ohio State Champions in her sophomore season… She plays for Lucky Lax Lacrosse Club under head coach Margaret Wolford… Academically, she was named to the Honor Roll. 

Issi Osborn | #15 | A | Rockford, Mich. | Summit LC  

A four-year attacker for Rockford High School under head coach Mark Nuemen…has scored 109 goals and 90 assists…In her junior season, she has won 61 draw controls…She was named to the All-Conference team, All-State team her sophomore and junior year…She earned the Hustle Award her sophomore year….During her junior season, she was named to the All-American team and earned MVP…Academically, she earned a spot on the Honor Roll…She is a member of the Summit Lacrosse Club under head coach Hilary Duda…She averages two goals and two assists per game. 

Ava Uphues | #16 | A/M | Alpharetta, Ga. | Eagle Stix Lacrosse Club  

A four-year midfielder for Alpharetta High School under head coach Brandon Allen…Has 151 goals, 186 total points, and 306 draw controls…She has been named an USA Lacrosse All-American, the 2021 & 2022 Alpharetta High School Overall MVP and Captain….She earned a spot on the All-State Lacrosse First Team…She was a member of the 2019 National Lacrosse Classic Southeast Team and the 2020 & 2021 Team Georgia US Lacrosse National Tournament… Earned the 2021 AHS Raider Award…She is a member of the Eagle Stix Lacrosse Club under head coach Sarah Michel. 

Cami Schachet | #20 | D | Fort Collins, Colo. | Summit LC  

A four-year defender for Rocky Mountain High School under head coach Pam Kramer…She has 22 goals, 18 assists, 55 caused turnovers, and 72 groundballs in her career so far…She has earned a spot on the All-State First Team, All-Conference First Team, All-Conference Second Team, the Adrenaline All-American Watch List, and the All-State Academic team…In 2021 & 2022, she earned the Team Character & Leadership Award…She has been an Honor Athlete all three years…Member of the National Honor Society and the National Business Honor Society. 

Bella Gerace | #22 | M | Newtown, Conn. | Nor’easter Lacrosse Club  

A three-year varsity midfielder for Sandy Hook High School under head coach Maura Fletcher…In her sophomore campaign, she helped her team to the conference finals where her team finished second…She earned a spot on the All-Conference Second team and All-Conference Academic team during her sophomore and junior season…In her junior season she earned the Unsung Hero Award and was named team captain for her senior season…Academically, she was a member of the National Honor Society, the World Language Honor Society, and the High Honor Roll.

Grace Brukiewa | #28 | A/M | Baltimore, MD. | Hero’s Lacrosse   

A three-year midfielder/defender for Gleneleg High School under head coach Alex Pagnotta…A member of the 2019 Lax for the Cure Champions…Plays for Hero’s Lacrosse Club-2023 Green under head coaches Helen Marie Hahn and Tim Welsh…Has been a member of the Honor Roll for all four years.
