October 6, 2022 by Chris Goldberg

Phillylacrosse.com, Posted 10/6/22 – From Press Release

Cabrini University head men’s lacrosse coach Steve Colfer has announced the hire of former Syracuse standout Jake Phaup (Souderton) as an assistant coach.

Phaup will be working with the faceoff specialists.

“We couldn’t be more excited to add Jake to our staff,” said Colfer. “He was a great player during his local high school career and then for Syracuse University. We are looking forward to having him work with our face-off midfielders and to coordinate our strategy within the face-off game.”

Phaup is currently a member of Atlas of the Premier Lacrosse League. This season, he was 11-for-29 on faceoffs in a contest against Redwoods on July 23.

A four-year member of the Syracuse Orange men’s lacrosse team, Phaup was a Preseason All-American faceoff specialist. He led the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in faceoff percentage in two of the last three seasons, finishing with 587 faceoff wins. That mark is third best in Syracuse history, while his 998 attempts was second all-time in school history. He won 58.8 percent of his faceoffs in his career, sixth best in school history.

His coaching experience includes working at the NXT Lacrosse Club.

A native of Souderton, Phaup received a degree in Public Health, with a minor in Coaching from Syracuse in 2022.

Phaup was a First-Team Suburban One American midfielder in 2017 at Souderton where he scored 32 goals, contributed 16 assists and won 75 percent of his faceoffs as a senior. He was also a two-time captain.
