St. Joseph’s Prep 2022 midfielder Jack Salvo has been named the Pansini Law Group Scholar-Athlete of the Week.

Jack Salvo

The award recognizes senior and junior lacrosse players that excel in academics, service and athletics.

Jack Salvo Profile:

High School: St. Joseph’s Prep
Grad Year: 2022
Position: Midfielder

College choice: Vanderbilt (for academics)

Academic Honors: GPA of 4.0, one of seven seniors at the Prep; Edmund A. Cassidy General Excellence Award; recognized as an Archdiocesan Academic Scholar; Joseph Corr Student-Athlete Award as a Junior; Senior Scholar-Athlete Award; took 18 AP and Honors courses.

Extracurriculars within the St. Joseph’s Prep Community: Vice President of Prep Med Club, a leader in the Stock Market Club, and leader of the Fitness Club; Varsity Soccer, Captain on the Squash team.

Community Service: Member of the Mission and Ministry Leadership Board (for community service events and masses and other activities, and assisted in raising money for various charities); participated in mission trips over the summer of my Freshman and Sophomore Year with local church.

Athletic Honors: Third-Team All-Catholic League as a senior, helped Hawks reach semifinals of PIAA 3A championships.

How do you define leadership: “I believe that leadership is an individual’s ability to prioritize the team’s needs over himself. It is being able to lift your team up and motivate them, especially when times get tough. It is being able to earn respect and provide a good example of how an athlete should carry himself on and off the field.”

How do you balance academics, service, and athletics? “As far as balancing academics, service, and athletics, I keep in close communication with my teachers and coaches so that they can allow for some flexibility. I also try to use my time throughout the day in school as wisely as possible with getting academic work done ahead of time so that I have more time to focus on service and athletics in the afternoon.”

What are your future goals? ”Next year I will be attending Vanderbilt University in Nashville, and my plan is to major in Computer Science and Economics. I’m still deciding on my career path for the future. One of the primary reasons that I chose Vanderbilt is their flexibility of curriculum and the various resources that they offer so that their students can freely explore practically any topic of interest.”

High school coaches from the 5-county area, Delaware, South Jersey, the Lehigh Valley and Central PA may nominate a player (junior or senior) for the Pansini Law Group Scholar-Athlete of the Week by e-mailing us at golax@phillylacrosse.com
