Page, McLaughlin (Springside Chestnut Hill) leads St. Joseph’s past LIU, 11-10, and into NEC championship game

Carter Page tied the single-season goal record and Mac McLaughlin ((Springside Chestnut Hill Academy) had two goals and two assists today as host and No 1 seed St. Joseph’s claimed an 11-10 victory over LIU in the NEC Championship Semifinals.

The Hawks advance to the NEC Championship game for the second-straight season and will host No. 3 Hobart on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Championship game at Sweeney Field..

HOW IT HAPPENED:
St. Joe’s tallied the first goal of the game before three-straight from the Sharks to go up 3-1 with 7:25 left in the first. A 4-0 run through the end of the period put the Hawks up 5-3.
SJU held a 3-0 advantage in the second stanza for an 8-3 halftime lead.
The teams traded the first four goals of the third, followed by two LIU goals up to the buzzer for a 10-7 score after three.
LIU pulled within one goal with a 3-1 margin in the final quarter, but could not overcome the deficit.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:
McLaughlin led all scorers with four points on two goals and two assists.
Levi Anderson had a trio of points with two scores and one helper.
Page finished with three points on three goals to tie Randy McNeill from 2001 with 44.
Austin Strazzulla and Tucker Brown tallied a pair of goals each.
Teo Domic and William King each recorded an assist.
Zach Cole (Lenape) went 15-of-24 from the X with six ground balls.
Robbie Seeley (9-1) picked up the win with 11 saves and six ground balls.
