North Carolina freshman profiles: CB East grad Bullotta (DEF)

February 1, 2022 by Chris Goldberg

This is the first of a series of profiles on four Philly grads who are freshmen at North Carolina, courtesy of UNC Athletics.

Phillylacrosse.com, Posted 2/1/22 – From Press Release

Evan Bullotta, freshman defenseman, is a Furlong native and graduate of Central Bucks East HS. He was a 2021 US Lacrosse All-American, an All-EPLCA selection, Suburban One National Conference Player of the Year, first-team all-conference selection and Second Team All-Phillylacrosse.com pick. He is ranked as the No. 76 incoming freshman by Inside Lacrosse for the NCAA’s top-ranked recruiting class.

Blake Clifton: When did you start playing lacrosse, and how did you get into it?

Bullotta: I started playing lacrosse around first grade. I had two older brothers who played it, and I enjoyed watching it, so I decided to try it out. That’s pretty much how I got started playing.

Clifton: Why did you choose to come to UNC?

Bullotta: When I first visited, there was a community aspect, and everybody was super friendly. The coaches were inviting, and all the players I met were great. Those interactions made me feel like I could spend four years with and hopefully be a championship-caliber team.

Clifton: How excited will you be when you first put on the Carolina jersey and run out on the field to represent the Tar Heels?

Bullotta: There are no words that will describe the feeling. Everything I’ve worked for has come to this point, and that one moment will be huge for my family and me.

Clifton: In a short summary, describe Coach Breschi?

Bullotta: He’s intense but in a good way. He makes you want to talk to him and gain a lot of knowledge. He’s fun to be around but can be serious if you need help with something. He’s just the best.

Clifton: Talk about your playing style and what you bring to the team here at UNC?

Bullotta: I like to bring intensity to practice and games. I play pretty fast and hard on the field. That’s how I like to play, and I think that will be an asset to the team.

Clifton: What do you like to do for fun outside of playing lacrosse?

Bullotta: I enjoy fishing with my family or by myself. I also enjoy lifting and being in the weight room. I’ll go to the gym and blow off some steam if I’m bored.

Clifton: What is something you can eat every day and never get tired of?

Bullotta: I would say pizza because there are many different varieties.

Clifton: What celebrity or famous athlete would you like to meet?

Bullotta: I would like to meet Quentin Tarantino because I love his movies. He seems like a cool and creative guy to talk to and be around.

Clifton: Who is the funniest guy on the team?

Bullotta: I would have to say Chris Nicholas. He’s always charismatic and funny when we hang out. He also is super positive and acts like a clown sometimes.

Clifton: Finally, what do you look to accomplish individually and as a team during your time at UNC?

Bullotta: Personally, to have fun and accomplish my goals. Team-wise I want to clearly win an ACC Championship and then win a National Championship as many years as we can. I think that’s everybody’s goal on the team.

Evan Bullotta
