Freshman Grace Farrell scored two late tying goals and the game-winning tally with 1:59 left in overtime off a Chloe Gwaku feed to lift Haddonfield to an 8-7 win over Mountain Lakes Saturday for the New Jersey Group 1 state championship in Washington, Warren County.
The winning goal was set up after a big save by Lexi Gwaku (9 saves).
Haddonfield has won four straight Group 1 titles.
Haddonfield (18-2) led just 2-1 at the half and opened a 4-1 lead early in the second half, but Mountain Lakes (14-6) had a 5-1 run and took leads of 6-5 and 7-6 before Farrell (3G) tied the game with 4:01 left on a free position goal.
Stella Stolarick had three goals and two assists for the Bulldawgs.
Lexi Gwaku’s key stop came off a close-in chance by Emily Petersen. Sadie Carpenter later passed to Chloe Gwaku, who found Farrell in tight.
Farrell had tied the game twice, 6-6, and 7-7 with 4:01 to go.
