By a vote of their peers, Mount St. Mary’s men’s lacrosse players Dan Bradley (Garnet Valley), Cormac Giblin, Jared McMahon, and Ben Ward were all named captains for the upcoming 2023 season.

“I am excited to announce our 2023 Captains for the Mount St. Mary’s Men’s lacrosse team as we return to the MAAC.” Head Coach Tom Gravante said. “Dan, Cormac, Jared, and Ben were selected by their teammates to lead our 2023 team this season. I am confident these young men will guide the team to success academically, athletically, socially, and culturally by employing our team leadership tenets of Justice, Integrity, Courage, and Humility.”

Bradley is embarking on his fourth season with the team, playing in 13 games so far. He is one of three members of his family from Garnet Valley that have played for the team, with Tim competing alongside him in 2021 and younger brother Brian as a current teammate. A midfielder with the Mount, he holds seven ground balls across 13 games played.

All four are multi-year veterans of the team. Bradley, Giblin, and Ward are seniors while McMahon returned as a graduate student.

Giblin is on the attacking side for the Mountaineers and emerged as a starter for part of last season. The fourth-year player from Bishop O’Connell High School scored 15 points in 2022 – 12 goals and three assists. He has competed in 20 contests for the Mount and averages more than one point for each game. Cormac is the son of defensive coordinator Kevin Giblin.

McMahon, a Bloomsbury, N.J. native, came to the Mount with his twin brother, Connor. After both earned their undergraduate degrees, Jared is flying solo after Connor elected to pursue graduate studies elsewhere. Over 49 career games, the attacking midfielder has earned 71 points, divided by 45 goals and 26 assists. Last season, McMahon led the team with 22 goals.

Ward, from Marriotts Ridge in Marriottsville, Md., joined the starting lineup as a defenseman for the 2022 season. Competing in 27 career games, he has earned 33 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. Most of those came last season, starting in 15 contests.

The 2023 season begins February 4th with a game at Navy.
