Sophomore goalie Griffin McGinley (Academy of the New Church) was named the USA Lacrosse Player of the Week by US Lacrosse and named NEC Defensive Player of the Week.
McGinley made 21 saves for the Mount in their 11-9 upset win over Navy last Saturday. The Mount’s defense held Navy to two or fewer goals in three quarters, including holding the Midshipmen scoreless for 16 minutes and 34 seconds.
McGinley’s previous high was eight against Navy in last year’s season opener. The last time a Mount goalie made 20 or more saves was Dylan Furnback in 2019 against Saint Joseph’s when he made 20 saves.
McGinley was an All-Phillylacrosse.com Second-Team pick as a junior at ANC (he lost his senior year to COVID) and an All-EPLCA and First Team Friends Schools League selection. In that season he helped the Lions reach the National Prep semifinals and win the Friends Schools League championship.
