The University of Pennsylvania men’s lacrosse team is once again dancing its way into the NCAA Championship. The Quakers, who are the No. 3 seed, will host Richmond in a first-round matchup in Penn Park on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Penn earned the Ivy League’s automatic bid into the big dance after winning the Ivy League Tournament on Sunday afternoon, defeating Yale 16-9.
This is the Quakers’ 14th trip to the tournament and the fourth under head coach Mike Murphy, with the last one coming in 2019 when they advanced to the quarterfinal round.
The Spiders (11-4) also won their league tournament on Saturday, earning the Southern Conference title in a victory over top-seeded Jacksonville, 10-9. Richmond is making its fourth NCAA Championship appearance, with the last coming in 2019.
The Ivy League is well represented in the tournament, landing six of the seven teams in the field. Penn is one of five teams that is seeded and will host a first-round game along with Brown, Yale, Princeton, and Cornell while Harvard will travel to Rutgers for its opening matchup.
