From Press Releases

St. Joseph’s junior Matt Bohmer was tabbed the NEC Co-Player of the Week with senior Zach Cole (Lenape) being named a Prime Performer and to the USILA Team of the Week for their performances against No. 14 Delaware and the win over RV Penn State, the league announced on Tuesday.

Bohmer tallied 12 points, nine goals, three assists, and three ground balls in a 1-1 week for the Hawks with a loss to nationally ranked Delaware and a win over Penn State (which was receiving votes in USILA).

Against the Blue Hens, Bohmer tallied six points on three goals and three assists. He then followed that up with a six-goal performance against the Nittany Lions.

Cole went 28-of-56 from the X (67.9%) and picked up 22 ground balls.

Against Delaware he was 18-of-26 with 12 ground balls and against Penn State he went 20-of-30 with 10 ground balls.

CAA Player of the Week: Delaware’s Clay Miller (Cumberland Valley)
Delaware’s Clay Miller (Cumberland Valley) recorded a career-high five goals to lead Delaware to a one-goal win over Saint Joseph’s. The senior attackman came off the bench to tally a first-half hat trick before netting two more in the second. Miller’s final goal of the game tied the contest at 10, ending a 4-0 Saint Joseph’s run and starting a 3-0 Blue Hens’ run that was the deciding factor in the contest. Miller has recorded at least three goals and four points in all three games this season.

Salisbury’s Ferrara earns USILA D3 honor

Salisbury graduate attacker Cross Ferrara (Appoquinimink-DE) landed on the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III Dynamic National Team of the Week on Tuesday.

Ferrara led the No. 1/2 ranked Sea Gulls to a 25-5 season-opening win against Scranton on Saturday with eight goals and four assists to tie a career-high with 12 points. He scored six of his eight goals in the first half. Ferrara also added three ground balls in the victory.

Ferrara adds his fourth USILA Team of the Week honor of his career after winning the Coast-to-Athletic Conference (C2C) Offensive Player of the Week award on Monday.

BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week
James Reilly, Georgetown, Sr., M (Berwyn, Pa.)

James Reilly (Conestoga) took every faceoff in the game for the Hoyas, winning 14-of-22 (.636). Added 11 ground balls and a goal in the 10-8 triumph over No. 10 Penn. No two faceoff wins were bigger than Reilly cleanly winning the clamp after Penn pulled within one at 9-8 with 2:33 to play, and again easily retaining possession for the Hoyas following Connor Morin’s goal with 1:58 remaining to seal the victory.

Division III

Marywood’s Scibello (Interboro), Abington (Reed) earn AEC honors

Marywood swept the first Atlantic East Conference men’s lacrosse weekly awards of the season. John Scibello (Interboro) was named Atlantic East Offensive Player of the Week, and Connor Reed (Abington) was picked Atlantic East’s Defensive Player of the Week.

Scibello scored 16 points to lead the Pacers to a 1-1 mark to start the season. The freshman attack broke Marywood’s single-game points record in his first collegiate appearance. He posted a 12-point effort with seven goals and five assists in a win over Rosemont. Scibello had four goals in a loss to crosstown Scranton. In both games, Scibello factored in defensively with five ground balls.

Reed made 44 total saves in a pair of games for the Pacers. He broke a single-game record with 29 saves in a loss to Scranton, adding nine ground balls for good measure. Reed made 15 stops in a 13-9 win over Rosemont. For the week, he had a .603 save percentage.
