Sean Rushton

The Patriot League announced the season’s first men’s lacrosse weekly awards with Lafayette junior LSM Sean Rushton (Malvern Prep) earning Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Rushton scored an early goal in the hard-fought loss at Penn State to give the Leopards an early 2-1 lead, just his second goal of his career.

The Media native and 2019 All-Phillylacrosse.com Second-Team pick in 2019 forced two Nittany Lion turnovers and picked up five ground balls on Saturday. It’s the first Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week honor for a Leopard since the 2015 season and the first for Rushton’s career.

The Leopards are back in action Saturday at VMI before the home opener on Feb. 19 against Sacred Heart.
