From Press Release

A fixture in the Loyola University Maryland men’s lacrosse program since his freshman season of 2017, Ryan McNulty (Bishop Shanahan) has joined the Greyhounds coaching staff as the team’s director of operations, Head Coach Charley Toomey announced today.

Ryan McNulty

McNulty, a three-time USILA All-American as a long-stick midfielder, succeeds another former alumnus of the program, Chris Myers ’17, who recently began a position as principal consultant for Blue Skies Consulting.

“Ryan was a huge part of our program for the last six years, and we’re thrilled he will be back as our director of operations,” Toomey said. “He has a bright future in the game of lacrosse, and we’re glad he’s starting his professional career here at Ridley.”

A four-time captain for Loyola, McNulty finished his Loyola career with 238 ground balls, 84 caused turnovers, 13 goals and 15 assists. He is fourth all-time in career caused turnovers; his career ground ball total is seventh all-time at Loyola, second amongst non-faceoff players behind only current Assistant Coach Matt Dwan.

He came to Loyola in the fall of 2016 and immediately gained playing time that spring on the Greyhounds’ rope unit. His freshman season was cut short due to an injury, but he came back in 2018 and had 53 ground balls, 17 caused turnovers, four goals and two assists during his first full season.

McNulty then earned All-Patriot League First Team and USILA All-America Honorable Mention in 2019 as the Greyhounds when he finished with 65 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers. During the shortened 2020 season, he had 11 caused turnovers and a non-faceoff specialist team-high 23 ground balls in six games, earning All-America Second Team honors from Inside Lacrosse.

The Exton native was a unanimous second-team All-American in 2021 as the Greyhounds reached the NCAA Quarterfinals for the third year in a row. He garnered All-Patriot League First Team recognition again as he had 46 ground balls, 19 caused turnovers and a career-high 10 points on four goals and six assists.

He finished his playing career for the Greyhounds by picking up 47 ground balls and causing 14 caused turnovers with a goal and three assists in 2022.

In addition to his All-America honors on the field, McNulty was a two-time USILA Scholar All-American.

He was selected in the third round of the 2022 Premier League Lacrosse draft by the Chrome Lacrosse Club.

McNulty received his bachelor of arts in communications in May 2020 from Loyola and then earned his Master’s of Emerging Media in May 2022.

McNulty, who played for Team ManUp, was a Phillylacrosse.com High Honorable Mention Player of the Year in 2016 at Shanahan and a US Lacrosse All-American. In his senior year, he helped lead the Eagles to the state playoffs, collecting 12 goals, 16 assists and 138 groundballs.
