From Temple Press Release
Maryland faceoff specialist Luke Wierman (Henderson) received two honors this week, first being named the Big Ten Specialist of the Week after a career day in Maryland’s 20-8 victory over #9 Loyola last weekend.
Wierman was also named to the USILA Team of the Week.
Wierman won a career-high 19 faceoffs against the Greyhounds, going 76% from the X while scoring two goals, notching an assist and picking up a career-best 11 ground balls.
Wierman’s three points were a career-best for a single game for the West Chester native, as he dominated at the faceoff and consistently won possessions for UMD. The 19 wins were tied for ninth all time at UMD for a single game.
Top-ranked Maryland returns to action this Sunday, February 20 when the Terps face #9 Syracuse on the road.
