ILWomen/IWLCA Rankings: Haverford College cracks D3 Top 20

March 14, 2022 by Chris Goldberg

Phillylacrosse.com, Posted 3/14/22 – From Press Release

After sprinting out to a 4-0 start to begin the 2022 campaign, the Haverford College women’s lacrosse team is getting some national recognition for those efforts, as the Fords check in at No. 24 in the latest IL Women/IWLCA Division III Coaches Poll, the IWLCA announced today.

The national ranking represents the second time that the Fords have received votes in the poll this season, and the first time the Fords have entered the national rankings since the 2019 season.

The Fords recently completed another 2-0 week, with wins over then-No. 22 Christopher Newport and St. Mary’s of Maryland on the team’s spring break trip. Haverford is one of three Centennial Conference teams ranked in the ILWomen/IWLCA Poll. Gettysburg checks in as the No. 2 team in the national while Franklin & Marshall is sixth in this week’s rankings. Washington College dropped out of the poll, but is still receiving votes.

Defending national champions Salisbury are the No. 1 team in the nation after handling No. 2 Gettysburg by a 14-9 final on March 9. Williams College also joins the top 25 poll along with the Fords, checking in at No. 25.

A testament to Haverford’s strong schedule will be on display this week, as Haverford travels to No. 8 TCNJ on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. opening draw before returning home for a Saturday contest against No. 14 York (1 p.m.).
