This is one of a series of previews for the 2022 scholastic lacrosse season

Lower Moreland

League: Suburban One League (American Conference)

Coaches: Jessica Ashenbrenner (head coach), Steve Wittmer (assistant coach)

2021 Record and accomplishments: 5-12 (2-9 in the SOL)

Key Players: Emily Fee (SR/GK), Leila Rosala (SR/mid/attack), Sara Asmann (SR/attack), Loren Bowles (SR/mid), Tori Finnegan (SR/mid), Kylie Tammaro (SR/attack), Sarah Rosala (JR/attack), Arlene Singh (JR/defense)

Others to Watch: Meredith Lutter (SR/defense), Noor Saidi (SR/mid)

Coach’s Outlook for 2022: With 11 seniors, we are excited to bring back many key players this season. We have a huge group of enthusiastic athletes this year, including many freshmen who are playing lacrosse for the first time. Without a middle school program, each year the goal is to build new players while challenging our veteran players to improve upon the prior year. This is also our second season in the SOL and although we lost some strong players, our goal is to beat last year’s record. In addition to working hard on the field, we will also continue to promote service through a Laurel House fundraiser at the end of April where we collect items for those impacted by domestic violence.”

Academy Park

League: Del-Val

Coaches: Susan Reutter, 13th season; New assistant coach Daa’iyah Allen, AP Lax Alum from the class of 2015

2021 Record: limited/shortened season due to COVID

Key Players: Jada Kinlaw (senior midfield), Dayana Allen (junior attack), Manatee Togba (junior goalie)

Others to Watch: Natalya Mercado (senior attack/mid), Zaheerah Mobley (senior), Cassidy Joner (senior defense)

Coach’s Outlook for 2022: “We are very young and inexperienced, but have a bright future. Lots of talented athletes learning the game, so I expect improvement over the course of the season.”
