HS girls’ previews: Inter-Ac’s Penn Charter, Academy of Notre Dame

This is one of a series of previews for the 2022 scholastic lacrosse season

William Penn Charter

League: Inter-Ac

Coaches: Colleen Magarity Kelly, 7th year coaching, 65-44-1, Assistants Deb White and Kirsti Mettin

2021 Record and accomplishments: 18-2-1. Had the most successful season in Penn Charter since 1999. Lost in the Inter-Ac Tournament Championship to Agnes Irwin.

Key Players: Darcy Felter, Maddie Shoup, Charlotte Hodgson, Grace Turner

Others to Watch: Gracie Shoup, Bea Buckley, Kayla Joyce, Alex Glomb are Key Juniors that will continue to step up. Ella Curci, Lane Murray, Brenna McCaffrey are also coming back and will be very valuable.

Coach’s Outlook for 2022: “I am very excited for the 2022 season. We return all of our midfielders and will keep building on the success this senior class has brought to Penn Charter Lacrosse. They have consistently put in the work and have taken our program to a different level every year.”

Academy of Notre Dame

League: InterAc

Coaches: Head Coach – Austin Martin, 3rd season, Assistant Coach – Lindsay Byrne, 4th season, record 8-9

Key Players: Katie Onderdonk, Julia Dever, Mia Vitanzo, Maeve Seeger

Others to Watch: Kylie O’Brien, Kylee O’Donnell

Coach’s Outlook for 2022: “Academy of Notre Dame is returning their strong defense this year and looking to continue to build off the success we had last year. Our Attack and Midfield is young, but we have a lot of talent. Our goal to start the season is to get everyone working as a unit and set each other up for success all over the field.”
