HS boys’ roundup: Haverford School, GA, SCH claim wins at Inter-Ac/DC IAC Challenge

Teddy Malone had three goals and two assists and Avi Mehl added three goals and an assist while Chuck Cacciutti posted 13 saves tonight as Haverford School defeated host Bullis School, 11-8, in the finale of the Inter-Ac/DC IAC Challenge.

The event featured six games between Philly’s Inter-Ac and Washington D.C.’s Interstate Academic Conference.

Ryan DiRocco added a goal and three assists for Haverford (1-1) and Ben McCarthy won 14 of 20 faceoffs while scooping eight groundballs.

Springside Chestnut Hill Academy 14, St. Albans (DC) 9

SCHA (1-1) evened its record as Brendan Dundas erupted for seven goals and four assists while Ross prince won 20 of 27 faceoffs and added a goal and two assists.

Drew Bown and Cole Carberry each had two goals and an assist while Hayes Schreiner posted 13 saves.

Germantown Academy 12, Episcopal High (VA) 1

Jack Luviano had five goals and an assist and Josh Lee scored five goals as GA opened its season with an impressive win.

Joey Delello added two goals and three assists and Dean Shacklett won 10 of 13 faceoffs while Brendan Donnelly (7 saves) and Jack Donovan (2 saves) combined for 9 saves on 10 shots.

Landon School (MD) 11, Penn Charter 7

Penn Charter (2-1) dropped its first of the season as Colin Michener collected three goals and two assists and Noah Decanay posted 11 saves. Russell Fitzgerald (9 of 11) and George Glomb (7-11) dominated at the faceoff X.

St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes (VA) 11, Episcopal Academy 10

EA (0-2) dropped its second 1-goal defeat despite a huge effort by Andrew McMeekin, who won 16 of 25 faceoffs and had two goals and two assists.

Dylan Jaszcz added three goals and an assist while Lucas Slate and TJ Lamb each scored twice. Nash Womack posted 11 saves

Georgetown Prep (MD) 10, Malvern Prep 9, OT

The Friars opened their season with a tough defeat after sending the game into OT with two late tallies.

Joseph Sheridan scored three goals while Jack Irish and AJ Nikolic each had a pair and Joe Doherty stopped 16 shots.
