D3 men’s roundup: Widener opens with win over DelVal; Scibello (Interboro) gets school-record 12 points to lead Marywood past Rosemont

Nick DiCicco (Penn Charter) tallied a hat trick and the Widener men’s lacrosse team topped visiting Delaware Valley, 14-8, in its season opener on this afternoon.

The Pride jumped out to a 5-0 lead through the first 16:30 of the game. Bryant Maits (West Chester East) scored two goals, while DiCicco, Jimmy Knepp (Central Bucks East), and Kyle Pollick (Bishop Shanahan) each added a score.

After Del Val put in three straight goals, the Pride scored four of the next five goals in the game to take a 9-4 lead into halftime. Jayce Dyer (Penn Charter) put in two of the Pride’s goals during the run, while DiCicco and Michael Tagliaferri (Bishop Shanahan) each had a goal.

DiCicco added his final goal in the third quarter. DiCicco, Maits, and Tagliaferri tied for a game-high three points after Maits and Tagliaferri each had two goals and an assist.

John Scibello: 12 points

The Pride put on a shot clinic, as they had 52 attempts at the net. The Blue and Gold doubled the amount of shots that the Aggies took.

Andrew Spencer (Avon Grove) and Keegan Billie combined for four saves in goal to help preserve the win.

Tre Williams had two goals and Jack Sprinkle added a goal and an assist for DelVal. Jim Murphy posted 13 saves.

Marywood 12, Rosemont 9

Freshman John Scibello (Interboro) broke a school record for points with seven goals and five assists and Dalton Metzger (Easton) had two goals and two assists while Dillon Kane (Perkiomen Valley) added two goals and one assist for Marywood in its opener.

Brandon Krausse had four goals for Rosemont (0-1).
