Cabrini’s Colfer names Goss (St. Joe’s Prep), Hogan (ANC), Hughes (Wyomissing), Trizonas (Garnet Valley) as co-captains for 2022 season

Cabrini men’s lacrosse coach Steve Colfer recently announced he team captains for the upcoming 2022 season.

Jake Goss (St. Joseph’s Prep), Seamus Hogan (Academy of the New Church), Matt Hughes (Wyomissing) and Evan Trizonis (Garnet Valley) have been selected by the coaching staff and team members for the leadership positions.

“We are super excited to have these four young men to be selected as captains by their teammates, Colfer commented upon making the announcement. “Each of them works hard and leads by example.”

Goss, a graduate midfielder, appeared in 13 games in 2021, securing five ground balls.

Hogan, a senior defenseman, secured All-Atlantic East Second Team honors after pairing 25 ground balls and seven caused turnovers in 13 games last season.

Also a senior defenseman, Hughes saw action in 11 contests a season ago, accounting for five caused turnovers and eight ground balls.

Trizonis tallied three points for the Blue and White offense in 2021, as the senior midfielder also recorded 19 ground balls and three caused turnovers in 14 appearances.

The Cavaliers will make their 2022 debut on Saturday, Feb. 19, as they welcome Haverford College to Edith Robb Dixon Field. The opening faceoff is slated for 12pm.
