From Press Release

The Thomas Jefferson University women’s lacrosse team dominated the second period to erase a halftime deficit and earn a 15-11 victory over host Cabrini University in the season opener on Tuesday afternoon.

Erin Campbell

It was the first time that any Rams team competed since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Coincidentally, it was the women’s lacrosse team who last took the field for Jefferson on March 11, 2020. Tuesday’s contest ended the hiatus at 356 days.

GAMEPLAY
The Cavaliers jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the opening five minutes. The Rams responded with three in a row for their first lead (4-3). Madison Caffrey was a factor in all three tallies with one goal and two assists. Cabrini notched two of the next three to even the score at five with 17:31 on the clock. The Cavaliers finished the half strong with four straight goals to take a 9-5 lead at the intermission.
The second stanza was all Jefferson with the Rams outscoring Cabrini, 10-2, in the frame. It was a great half for those named Erin with Erin Campbell, Erin Avanzato, and Erin Eckert recording four, three, and two goals respectively in the period. Jefferson led the shot count, 19-8, in the second and closed with a 31-29 advantage overall.
