Erin Garvey (Unionville) had a goal and two assists as visiting Michigan defeated No. 7 Penn State, 12-9, today at Panzer Stadium in the Big Ten.
No. 13 Michigan gained the lead with a 4-0 run to begin the second half and held on for the victory. The Nittany Lions dropped to 2-3, while Michigan improved to 3-3.
Freshman Kristin O’Neill led the Nittany Lions with four goals, tying her career high. Fifth-year senior Maria Auth and sophomore Mary Muldoon each tallied two goals. Lauren Craft added a goal and Kara Nealon (Garnet Valley) contributed an assist. Olivia Dirks (Episcopal Academy) won nine draw controls. In goal, Taylor Suplee made seven saves.
Michigan was paced by Maggie Kane’s four points, including three goals. Molly Garrett added two goals and an assist, and Caitlin Muir scored twice. Arielle Weissman earned the win, making 14 saves.
