Lehigh’s Dickey (Conestoga) and Sagi Pick Up Patriot League Weekly Awards

Coming off a 14-7 win over Army West Point on Saturday, Lehigh graduate student Sondra Dickey (Conestoga) and senior Samantha Sagi have been named Patriot League Midfielder and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively, as announced on Monday. Dickey won the award for the third time in the first five weeks of the season and 11th time in her career. As a team, Lehigh has now won at least one award in all but one week this season.

Dickey put forth a superb all-around effort against the Black Knights, posting six goals, one assist, three groundballs, a caused turnover and eight draw controls. She scored Lehigh’s first two goals and five of its first nine as the Mountain Hawks opened a commanding 8-0 halftime lead. On Saturday, Dickey moved into 10th place in program history for career groundballs (123) and tied for 10th for assists (51). She became the first player in program history in the top 10 in those two categories, along with goals, points, draw controls and caused turnovers. Dickey was also part of a Lehigh defense that held a strong Army attack scoreless for the game’s first 32:34. For the season, she now owns 17 goals, 19 points, 15 groundballs, 10 caused turnovers and 20 draw controls.

Sagi’s Patriot League weekly award marks the fifth of her career, also winning Goalkeeper of the Week once as a sophomore. As a freshman, she won Rookie of the Week once and Defensive Player of the Week twice. On Saturday, Sagi stopped all 10 shots sent her way in the first half to help Lehigh take an 8-0 halftime lead. She ended up stopping the first 11 shots for the game and finishing with a season-high 16 saves, allowing just seven goals. She was part of a Lehigh defense that held a strong Army attack scoreless for the game’s first 32:34. On the season, Sagi owns a 10.98 goals against average and 50.0 save percentage.

Graduate student Alexandra Ladda (Harriton) also received honorable mention on the Patriot League weekly honor roll. A defender, Ladda collected two groundballs on the afternoon, but also held Army’s leading scorer Caroline Raymond – who had a team-high 18 goals and 25 points last season – without a point.
