Wissahickon will host Conestoga No. 5 Conestoga Saturday at noon in a game to honor the memory of former assistant coach and beloved teacher Jim Simmington.
Simmington was a popular 6th grade teacher at Wissahickon Middle School and co-founder of the Wissahickon MS lacrosse program who later served as a top assistant coach for the high school program. He passed away in December of 2019 of cancer.
Simmington was a Conestoga graduate. As an assistant coach he helped Wissahickon High share the 2010 Suburban One American Conference title, the school’s first league crown since 1999. Simmington played at West Chester University and also coached at Archbishop Carroll.
Fans, former colleagues and students are encouraged to attend, but must wear masks and stay socially distanced.
