The prolific attackman from Allentown Central Catholic scored 10 goals and added three assists to spark the Vikings to a 16-6 rout of Crestwood today in the PIAA Class AA semifinals at Emmaus.
has enjoyed his fair share of stellar performances as a senior at Central Catholic (22-1).
The Saint Joseph’s University signee has 91 goals as his ACC squad advances to the title game against District 7 champion Mars, a 10-3 winner over Bishop Shanahan.
The championship, slated from 2:30 p.m. at West Chester East, will feature many firsts. It will be the first time a team from the West – Mars – will play in a PIAA title game and the first time a team from District 11 – Central Catholic – will play in a final. It also will be the first a title game will be played with no team from Philly’s Districts 1 or 12.
Senior Tyler Schifko added four goals and two assists while Sean Farrell and Augie Barr scored Central Catholic’s other two goals.
Crestwood, the District 2 champion, finished 18-3 while bringing some continued notoriety to the Northeast region of the state.
Defensively, the Vikings were stout against an explosive Crestwood attack. Coach Brian Zabroski’s Comets (18-3) featured a trio — Trey Zabroksi, Chandler O’Farrell and Nick Curry — that entered play with a combined 204 goals. Against Central Catholic, they totaled three.
Meanwhile, junior Chuck Kuczynski anchored the ‘D’ along with senior goalie Ike Davis (8 saves) as the Vikings held Crestwood’s vaunted offense to three goals in the first three periods. Also, senior face-off specialist Derek Lystad won 9 of 12 faceoffs in the first half.
