Two former teammates who helped Archbishop Carroll win the 2017 PIAA Class AAA championship faced each other Saturday when No. 3 Syracuse traveled to No. 4 Loyola.
But it was not a close contest.
Sam Swart (Archbishop Carroll) had four goals to help the Orange open with a decisive 18-6 victory. Syracuse led, 8-3, at halftime and never looked back.
For Loyola, Swart’s former teammate on the 2017 title team, Katie Detwiler (Archbishop Carroll), had four draw controls and a caused turnover and Emily Wills (Agnes Irwin) had an assist and a draw control. Liz Scott (Conestoga) hadd an assist.
Hofstra 17, UConn 11
Camryn Faith (Garnet Valley) scored once for Hofstra.
Coastal Carolina 12, Winthrop 9
Hannah Close (Unionville) collected six draw controls, an assistk a groundball and a caused turnover while Megan Bozzi (Mainland Regional-NJ) scored once for Coastal Carolina
