From Press Release

Ohio State graduate student Ryan Terefenko (Wilson) has been named a preseason First-Team All-Americans at short-stick defensive midfield by the United State Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association and the Inside Lacrosse/Media.

Ryan Terefenko

Terefenko will be integral piece of a Buckeye squad that is ranked No. 12 in preseason polls by both Inside Lacrosse and US Lacrosse Magazine. Terefenko is a three-time USILA All-Americans and last June was a USILA Scholar All-Americans.

Terefenko has played in 52 career games with 139 ground balls – most of any active player on the roster – to go along with 15 goals, 19 assists and 13 caused turnovers. In September, he was selected by the Halifax Thunderbirds in the second round of the National Lacrosse League Draft.

Despite having the 2020 season cut short to seven games due to COVID-19, Terefenko led the Buckeyes with 30 ground balls and had also added two goals and four assists from his shortstick defensive midfield spot. A team captain, his play helped the Buckeyes rank 11th nationally in clearing percentage (.889) and 29th in face-off win percentage (.558). Terefenko’s average of 4.29 ground balls per game was the best in the Big Ten among non face-off specialists.

Last May, Terefenko earned his degree in sport industry and is enrolled in Ohio State’s sports management graduate program.
