Old Dominion coach Heather Holt (Radnor) has announced Katie McGrain and Danielle “Dani” Dundas (Central Bucks West) as the captains for the women’s lacrosse upcoming season.
Dundas is a senior from Doylestown who became a Monarch in 2019. The 2021 season proved to be Dundas’ best season yet, as she appeared in all 16 matches for ODU and recorded 13 ground balls, 12 goals, and six assists. In her 2020 season, she registered 12 ground balls, six goals, and one assist.
Her freshman year, the biochemistry major played in 15 games, had eight draw controls, two ground balls and two assists. Prior to ODU, Danielle was a two-sport athlete at Central Bucks West High School, playing both lacrosse and field hockey. In three seasons playing lacrosse, she scored 163 goals and had 77 assists.
Katie McGrain is a junior from Forest Hill, Maryland who made her college debut in 2020. Last season, the sports management major recorded 13 ground balls, six caused turnovers, and three goals in her sixteen appearances. McGrain’s freshman year, she played all nine matches for ODU notching 13 ground balls, four caused turnovers and four goals. Prior to ODU, she attended Bel Air High School where she was a four-year varsity starter, including her senior year when she was named captain and received the 2019 Sportsmanship Award.
Holt said, “I am honored to have Danielle Dundas and Katie McGrain as captains for our 2022 team. Both Dani and Katie are tremendous leaders on and off the field. They lead by example through hard work and determination every day. This is going to be a very exciting year for ODU Lacrosse!”
