Staff Report

Katie Buck collected six goals, an assist and seven draw controls to lead host Moorestown to an 11-6 victory today over Cherokee in the New Jersey Tournament of Champions semifinals.

The win vaults the Group 3 champion and second-seeded Quakers (18-2) into Saturday’s title game vs. top-seeded Oak Knoll at Mount Olive at 4 p.m. Moorestown fell to Oak Knoll in the 2019 TofC final and also fell to Oak Knoll, 15-8, on May 10.

Buck, a junior, and Dylan Silar (seven draw controls) helped the Quakers win 15 of 19 draws. Emma Dengler added three goals and Hayley Kowalczyk had five saves.

Group 4 champion Cherokee (21-2) was held to a season-low six goals and was unable to hold a 4-3 lead. Moorestown took a 5-4 lead when Buck scored on an 8-meter with 32 seconds left in the first half.

Cherokee got three three goals from Alex Kulinski and two goals from Erin St. John.
