6/12/09 – Former Boyertown girls’ coach Brumbach is first woman named to Ches-Mont Hall of Fame
Phillylacrosse.com, Posted 6/12/09
Marcia Brumbach, who guided Boyertown to four state girls’ lacrosse championships in a brilliant 21-year career, was recently inducted into the Ches-Mont League Hall of Fame.
Brumbach was honored during the Ches-Mont League’s annual Spring Banquet at Coatesville Country Club last weekend. Brumbach was inducted with Pottstown graduate Alray Johnson, who starred in football, basketball and track and field and later was a successful wrestling coach at Downingtown.
Brumbach was the first woman to be inducted into the Ches-Mont Hall of Fame, now in its third year for a league which was launched in 1950-51. She was an outstanding athlete at Boyertown in the late ’60s who returned to her alma mater to coach the field hockey, basketball, and lacrosse teams to countless championships.
Brumbach coached lacrosse at Boyertown for 21 years, compiling a brilliant record of 245-67-12, winning 11 league championships and four District 1 (state) championships while coaching over 20 All-Americans. Ther District 1 titles came in 1984-85 and 1993-94. Brumbach’s Bears posted a state-record 56 straight wins from 1993-95 and she also coached the U.S. and Japan in International competition.

HERSHEY – Seniors Courtney Campbell, Allie Martin and Ellie Kraus combined for 10 goals and Annie Woehling made 11 saves in goal, helping Radnor defeat Springfield-Delco, 14-7, and repeat as Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) girls’ lacrosse champion.

The Red Raiders (26-1), who topped the Cougars three times this year, have won both PIAA crowns and are 75-2 in the past three years.
Two seasons ago they won the District 1 Class AAA title; in that year there was no official state champion.
Unlike the first two meetings between these Central League powers – who were ranked 1-2 in the PA Media Rankings – Radnor jumped out to an early lead and never was challenged. In the first two games, the No. 1 Raiders had to rally in the second half and still managed only eight goals each time,

From Press Release
After a record-setting year on the Cornell backline, senior defender Catie Smith (Conestoga) has been named a First-Team All-American, the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association announced recently. Smith is just the fourth player in program history to earn first-team honors and the first since Sarah Averson in 2003.

This is the second straight year that Smith has been named an All-American, as she was named an IWLCA Third-Team All-American in 2016. The 2017 Ivy League Defender of the Year, Smith was named to the IWLCA All-Northeast Region First Team last week and on Tuesday was tabbed as the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year.
Smith finished the season as the Big Red’s leading take-away defender for the third consecutive year and set a single-season caused turnover program record for the second straight year with an Ivy League-best 42. The tri-captain also led the team in ground balls (45) and draw controls (47) and became just the second player in school history to reach 100 career caused turnovers on May 5 against Harvard in the Ivy League Tournament semifinals.
Smith was the backbone of a Cornell defensive unit that continually ranked in the top 10 nationally in scoring defense and never gave up more than 12 goals in a game for the first time since the 2003 season.
