Pope John Paul II names alum Bildstein as head boys’ lacrosse coach

Pope John Paul II has named 2012 alum Matthew Bildstein as its head boys’ lacrosse coach.

Bildstein was a 4-year starter at PJP and ‘was a 1st team All-Pioneer Athletic Conference midfielder his senior season and a 3-year Team MVP. He had 47 goals and 24 assists in his senior season and 81 goals and 47 assists in his career.

Bildstein has spent 8 years as an assistant football coach at PJP (2012-present), and 2 years as Freshman Boys Basketball Head Coach (2016-2017)

“I have built many relationships with current and former student-athletes and plan to continue building these special bonds,” said Bildstein. “I love working with and teaching these student-athletes here at Pope John Paul, lessons that they can carry with them the rest of their lives.

“My biggest goal from Day 1 is to build a successful lacrosse program, brick by brick ,and competing at our highest level in the classroom, in the community and on the playing field.”
