Philly men, women named Ivy League All-Academic

Following a shortened spring season due to COVID-19, the Ivy League released its list of student-athletes selected for the spring edition of the 2019-20 Academic All-Ivy. Prior to the cancelation of the remainder of the spring seasons, 15 teams had earned a place in national polls.

The 80 men and women were starters or key reserves on an officially recognized varsity team with 3.0 or better cumulative grade point averages. Each institution nominated eligible student-athletes.

The Philly honorees:

CORNELL
Caroline Allen, Lacrosse (Sr., Hotel Administration – Academy of Notre Dame, Ardmore, Pa.), 2x All-Ivy, first team in 2019…IWLCA Northeast 2nd team all-region…led team in points and goals in each of the final 3 seasons…2 top 10 school marks, 4 more in top 20.

HARVARD
Kyle Anderson, Lacrosse (Sr., Government – Malvern Prep, Downingtown, Pa., 3.652 GPA, Two-time captain, reached 98 career points (69 goals and 29 assists) through 29 games played/started after missing freshman season due to injury, ranked first on the team in assists with seven, and second in goals/points with five/12 during 2020 season, honorable Mention All-Ivy performer junior season

Penn
Mark Evanchick, Lacrosse (Sr., Political Science – Darien, Conn.), 2020 third-team Maverik Media All-America by Inside Lacrosse; as a junior he was third-team USILA All-America, first-team All-Ivy (for the second straight year) and first-team ECAC All-Star. Also drafted by the Philadelphia Barrage.

Abby Bosco, Lacrosse Jr., Communication – Suffern, N.Y.), 2020 third-team Inside Lacrosse Media All-America; Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week (2/17); led Ivy League and sixth nationally in caused turnovers per game (2.40); 2019 second-team All-Ivy

Chelsea Kibler, Lacrosse (Sr., Operations Information & Decisions, concentration (Wharton) – Leonardtown, Md.)
Team captain; was on pace to set program record for career draw controls; led Ivy League and 15th in Division I in DCs per game (6.80); set program’s single-game record for draws (10 vs. Johns Hopkins)

PRINCETON
George Baughan, Lacrosse (Sr., Woodrow Wilson School – Springfield-Montco, Wyndmoor, Pa.), 2020 Inside Lacrosse First-Team All-American; 2019 USILA Honorable Mention All-American; 2019 Unanimous First-Team All-Ivy

Michael Sowers, Lacrosse (Sr., History – Upper Dublin, Dresher, Pa.)
2020 Inside Lacrosse National Player of the Year and first-team All-American; 3x USILA All-American; 2019 Tewaaraton Award Finalist; Princeton’s all-time leading scorer (302 points)

Yale
Chris Fake, Lacrosse (Jr., Chemical Engineering – The Hun School, Allentown, NJ.)
, 3.81 GPA … 2018 National Champion … 2019 NCAA Championship finalist … two-time All-American … Tewaaraton Award Watch List honoree the past two seasons … two-time First Team All-Ivy
