Four Philly high school teams will compete Monday to help recognize the region’s Harlem Lacrosse programs at the Harlem Lacrosse Partners Cup at the Olney Recreation Center in North Philadelphia.
The event begins with a girls’ scrimmage between Penn Charter and Shipley School at 4 p.m., followed by a boys’ scrimmage at 5;45 p.m. between Penn Charter and Westtown School.
The event was created to give focus to the Harlem Lacrosse programs being run at Finletter School and nearby Olney Elementary School. Finletter has middle school Harlem Lacrosse programs for boys and girls and Olney has a middle school program for girls.
At halftime of the Shipley-Penn Charter game, the Harlem girls’ programs will scrimmage and Harlem boys’ players will scrimmage at halftime of the boys’ game.
This will be the first time high school games will be played at the Harlem site at the Recreation Center, which is adjacent to Finletter School.
