Duke women’s lacrosse head coach and Haverford High alum Kerstin Kimel registered her 300th career victory Friday as the host Blue Devils kicked off the college season Friday with a dominant 22-7 win over Gardner-Webb in Koskinen Stadium in Durham, N.C.
Kimel became just the seventh active Division I coach to reach the milestone. Kimel has 296 wins at Duke in her 25 seasons. She won four games as the first head coach at Davidson in 1994. Her overall record is 300-166.
Three Philly women played key roles in the win for the Blue Devils: junior defender Natalie Kahn (Great Valley) had two groundballs and joined sophomore Alexis Joseph (Penn Charter) on the starting back line. Sophomore Victoria Hineman (Unionville) had a goal and a groundball.
