Drexel women’s lacrosse coach Jill Batcheller (Archbishop Carroll) announced the 2021 team captains and positional leaders on Wednesday.

Courtney Dietzel (Central Bucks South), Jamie Schneidereith and Lucy Schneidereith were all selected as team captains. Additionally, Colleen Grady (attack), Karson Harris (midfield), Rachel Warden (Garnet Valley, defense) and Zoe Bennett (defense) were tabbed as positional leaders.

“Our team utilizes a shared strategy for our team leadership to serve our program and to build leadership skills amongst our athletes,” Batcheller said. “Our captains oversee our team culture while our positional leaders oversee their area of the field.”

Dietzel and Jamie Schneidereith became captains for the third time of their careers. Lucy Schneidereith earned the leadership role for the first time. All are returning to the field for the fifth seasons with DU.

Dietzel has appeared in 45 games over her four seasons as a Dragon with 43 goals, seven assists, 50 points, 26 ground balls and 44 draw controls.

Jamie Schneidereith has 52 appearances across her four years with 33 goals, 10 assists, 43 points, 56 ground balls and 34 caused turnovers.

Lucy Schneidereith has totals of 52 goals, eight assists, 60 points, 45 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers in four seasons.

“Our captains this season have such a strong foundation of leadership experience,” Batcheller said. “These three are so dedicated towards the success of this program. Through these uncertain times, we are fortunate to have their level of experience, passion and positivity at the helm of this program.”

Colleen Grady (attack), Karson Harris (midfield), Rachel Warden (defense) and Zoe Bennett (defense) have the responsibility to oversee their area of the field.

“Our positional leaders are all incredible and proven athletes who have been game changers for this program,” Batcheller said. “We are looking forward to them bringing their own field knowledge and drive to their units on the field. Our coaches will be working with these positional leaders hand in hand to create on-field success and cohesiveness this season.”

Grady, an attacker, leads all returners with 142 points (ninth all-time at Drexel) with 84 goals (15th all-time at Drexel) and 58 assists (fourth all-time at Drexel) in just 39 games over three seasons.

Harris, a midfielder, leads all returners with 88 goals (14th all-time at Drexel), 174 draw controls (second all-time at Drexel) and 74 ground balls. Harris also has 36 assists (14th all-time at Drexel) and 124 points (14th all-time at Drexel) in her three-year, 38-game career for the Dragons.

Warden, a top defender for DU, has played in 50 games across four years with 64 ground balls, 43 draw controls and 53 caused turnovers, a team-best figure for returners.

Bennett, a goalie, has appeared in all 39 games in her first three seasons with the Dragons, starting all but one. The goalie helped Drexel to a 5-2 record in the seven-game 2020 season, ending the season on a four-game winning streak.
