Drexel names co-captains for 2020 season: Bowering, Koita, Mailman, Stabbert

Drexel Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach Brian Voelker recently announced the captains for the upcoming 2020 season. Seniors Reid Bowering, Jimmeh Koita, Collin Mailman and Will Stabbert have been elected by their teammates to serve in that capacity this season.

Bowering, an attackman from British Columbia, begins his final season at Drexel with 102 career goals the seventh-highest total in school history. He is coming off one of the best offensive years in school history. Bowering scored 47 goals, coming within one goal of the Drexel single-season record. He was named a Second Team All-CAA performer for the second-straight season.

Collin Mailman

Koita, Drexel’s face-off specialist, enters his final year in University City with 478 career face-off wins and 263 ground balls. He finished ninth in the nation in ground balls a season ago and tied the school record with 18 in one game. Koita, a native of the Bronx, had a .570 face-off percentage in 2019 and was named to the CAA All-Tournament team.

Mailman, a midfielder from York, Pa., started every game a year ago. He played more on the offensive end than he did in the past and responded with 22 goals. A Second Team All-CAA pick, Mailman was named to the CAA All-Tournament team after scoring five goals in the two games, including a hat trick in the semifinals against UMass.

Stabbert is a native of Granite Bay, Calif., native is a four-year starter on defense. He has earned the title of captain for the second-straight season. Stabbert has been a starter on the Drexel defense since arriving on campus as a freshman. Last season, he was second on the team with 15 caused turnovers.

Drexel advanced to the Colonial Athletic Association title game a year ago, where they lost to Towson, 16-14. The Dragons open the 2020 season on Feb. 15 at High Point.
