From Press Release

Junior Sean Christman (Malvern Prep) of the Boston University men’s lacrosse team has been named Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Week.

Sean Christman

Christman was outstanding at the X for the second straight week. He went 15-for-18 (.833) and gathered 12 ground balls in the Terriers’ tilt against No. 12 Ohio State on Saturday. Christman also added an assist and did not record a turnover. His performance against the Buckeyes came a week after he led the conference in faceoff percentage thanks to a 15-for-21 (.714) effort against Providence.

Among student-athletes that have played in at least two games this season, Christman leads the nation with a .769 faceoff percentage. He is fifth overall in the country and first in the Patriot League in that category. Christman is also second in the conference and fifth in the NCAA with 19 ground balls.

BU will return to action on Saturday when the Terriers travel to UMass Lowell. Game time is set for 1 p.m.

PSU’s Ament (Haverford School) wins another award

Penn State senior Grant Ament (Haverford School) is the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for the second-straight week to open the season after totaling eight points on three goals and five assists in a 19-10 win over No. 20 Villanova on Saturday.

With his third point in the game against Villanova – which came on his second goal of the contest – Ament passed Radnor resident Gary Martin (1981-84) to become the program leader. He finished the game with 258 career points and needs just nine more to break the Big Ten record.

Ament, who also earned the award after tallying 10 points in a win over Lafayette last week, leads the nation in assists (11), points (18) and points/game (18.0). He has won six Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors during his career.

Penn State (2-0) hosts Saint Joseph’s on Saturday at noon. The Hawks opened the season with a 15-8 win at St. Bonaventure.
