The NCAA Division I men’s lacrosse champion Virginia Cavaliers were invited to attend the Phillies game Wednesday at Citizens Bank Park and have some of its Philly stars throw out the first ball before the contest with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Throwing out first balls were junior All-American Dox Aitken (Haverford School) and sophomore attackman Matt Moore (Garnet Valley). Also attending were junior faceoff specialist Justin Schwenk (Spring-Ford), senior midfielder David Smith (Shawnee), and freshmen midfielders Jeff Conner (Strath Haven) and Garyson Sallade (Manheim Township).
The players receiving the first pitches were utlity fielder Phil Gosselin – a Malvern Prep grad – and first-round draft pick Adam Haseley, currently on the disabled list.
