Catholic University men’s lacrosse freshman Mike McShea (Radnor) was named the Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year on Tuesday while four Cardinals received All-Landmark Conference honors, including junior Vince Catenacci who was named to the first team.
McShea is the second Cardinal to earn Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year honors joining Brendan Englert who earned the accolade in 2011. Englert is the only men’s lacrosse player in conference history to be named both rookie and player of the year.
McShea leads the Landmark Conference with a .644 faceoff percentage and ranks second in faceoff wins (212) and faceoffs taken (329). He leads the Landmark Conference with 134 ground balls, setting a new school record for a single season. He is ranked 19th in the nation in ground balls per game and fourth among freshmen while coming in 32nd in faceoff percentage, 10th among freshmen.
