From Press Release
The Drexel, St. Joseph’s, Penn and Villanova men’s lacrosse teams will play in the Philly 4 Lacrosse Classic. The two-day event takes place on Friday night at Villanova and then on Sunday at Vidas Field at Drexel.
The schedule for Friday night begins with Drexel facing Saint Joseph’s at 5 p.m. at Villanova Stadium Field. The host Wildcats will take on Penn immediately following the Drexel game. Two days later at Vidas Field, Drexel will battle Villanova beginning at noon. Penn and Saint Joseph’s will play 30 minutes following the first game. All four games can be seen live on the Lacrosse Sports Network (LSN).

Drexel comes into the game with a 1-3 record after falling to Jacksonville last weekend in Florida. Reid Bowering leads Drexel with 14 goals. Marshal King has handed out eight assists and has 13 points, while Matthew Varian has eight goals and 10 points. The Dragons are averaging more than 13 goals per game through their first four contests. The Dragons man-up offense has been ticking in the early going. Drexel has 12 man-up goals in 24 attempts. Jimmeh Koita has won 53 percent of his face-offs and has 32 ground balls. Defensively, Sean Quinn has 12 caused turnovers and is second behind Koita with 12 ground balls.
Saint Joseph’s bring a 3-2 record into the game. The Hawks defeated Monmouth in their last outing and have also beaten St. Bonaventure and Fairfield. Their losses have come to Delaware and Providence. Zach Cole (Lenape, NJ) has had a great start for the Hawks, winning 63 percent of his face-offs. Nate Patterson leads the team with 10 goals and 15 points. Mike Alder has a .519 save percentage and has started every game.
Villanova is ranked 11th in the nation with a 3-1 record. The ‘Cats pounded Delaware last weekend, 17-9, and defeated top-ranked Yale on Feb. 16 in overtime. Villanova’s only loss came in OT to Hofstra. Matt Campbell already has 14 goals for Villanova, while Keegan Kahn and Joey Froccaro each have five scores.
Penn enters the weekend with a misleading 0-3 record. The Quakers have played three top five teams (Maryland, Duke, Penn State), and two of those games have been decided by just a goal. Adam Goldner (Malvern Prep) has been the top scoring threat for the Quakers. He has 10 goals and 11 points. Simon Mathias has a 5-3-8 line through three games.
