From Press Release

On the first day of the National Letter of Intent signing period, two Agnes Irwin senior student-athletes were celebrated for their lacrosse commitments to play at the Division I level in college next year. The NLI is a binding agreement between a prospective student-athlete and an NLI member institution, requiring the student-athlete to complete one full academic year at the institution.

Wednesday’s signers were:
· Julianne Carey — Davidson College — Lacrosse
· Kacy Hogarth — University of Maryland — Lacrosse

“To be recruited, and to sign an NLI, requires a tremendous amount of commitment from an athlete and their family, strong academic performance and, most importantly, great character,” remarked Athletic Director Courtney Lubbe. “I am so proud of everything these student-athletes have accomplished in their time here at Agnes Irwin. Our seniors are following in the footsteps of many Irwin’s girls before them in pursuing their sport at the college level, and we are so thrilled to celebrate their commitments!”

Carey will play lacrosse at Davidson College next year, joining her sister, Olivia ’17, on the team. A three-sport varsity athlete in soccer, squash, and lacrosse, Julianne has received numerous All-Main Line and All-Delco awards, and was named 2nd Team All-Inter-Ac in lacrosse in 2019.

Carey has helped the AIS Lacrosse team win the Inter-Ac Championship (2015, 2016, and 2018) and win the PAISAA Championship in 2015, 2017, and 2018. She received the prestigious Carter Mannion Award at AIS in 2019 for athletic talent and leadership ability. Julianne embodies what it means to be a student-athlete, receiving Honors or High Honors in each academic year and serving as Head of the Athletic Association at Agnes Irwin.

Hogarth has committed to play lacrosse at the University of Maryland next year. As a lacrosse athlete, she has received numerous honors including All-Main Line, All-Delco, Main Line Athlete of the Week, and was named to the Inside Lacrosse All-Tournament Team for Indoor Nationals in 2019.

Hogarth contributed to the AIS Lacrosse team winning the Inter-Ac Championship (2015, 2016, and 2018) and win the PAISAA Championship in 2015, 2017 and 2018. A well-rounded athlete known for her speed and tenacity, she was selected All-Inter-Ac for field hockey in 2019, and was selected for the Under Armour Philly Lacrosse team in both 9th and 10th grade and has played on the Varsity Lacrosse team at AIS since 8th grade.
