From Press Release
Mesa is thrilled to announce Katie Rhodes Abbott as the Director of Girls Lacrosse. Rhodes Abbott comes to Mesa with a wealth of experience coaching at the college level, with the majority of her coaching at the D1 level.
Her philosophy of developing young girls/women as people in addition to lacrosse players fits well with Mesa’s principals. She feels it is a huge privilege to have this opportunity to work with and lead the Mesa girls’ program.
Katie Rhodes Abbott is entering her second season as Head Coach at La Salle University. She spent the previous five seasons at Colgate University as their top assistant coach. During her time at Colgate, Rhodes Abbott was instrumental in the growth of the Raiders program.
Over her five seasons there she helped the team to 41 wins and four Patriot League Tournament appearances. Prior to Colgate, Rhodes Abbott spent two years as an assistant coach at Detroit Mercy. She worked directly with the goalies, in addition to being responsible for recruiting, scouting reports and film exchange.
Rhodes Abbott will oversee the girls’ program, including curriculum and development, on-field training, and communication. In addition, Rhodes Abbott will be instrumental in helping Mesa families navigate through the college recruiting process.
