Wissahickon 2020 defender Lauren Donofrio has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at George Mason University.

Lauren Donofrio profile:

Lauren Donofrio

High school: Wissahickon High School, PA

Grad year: 2020

Position: Defense

College committed to: George Mason University

Club team: HEADstrong Philly Girls Lacrosse Club

Lacrosse honors: National Tournament Team 2, Suburban One League 2nd team, Scholar-Athlete award National

Academic honors: Honors Society, French National Honors Society Undecided

Why did you choose George Mason? “I chose George Mason because of the academic and athletic programs. Ever since I’ve watched my cousins play at the highest D1 level of lacrosse, I knew that I wanted to play D1 lacrosse in college. George Mason felt like the right fit for me. The location between D.C., Baltimore, and Philly is the perfect spot when considering where I wanted to attend. I am also inspired by Coach Jessy Morgan’s vision for the future of the program. I love the campus and the surrounding area, and I’m so excited and can’t wait to be a Patriot!”

HS team’s 2019 outlook: “We have strong returning classes from seniors, juniors, and sophomores and a good incoming freshman class.”

Thank You: “First and most importantly, I would like to thank my mom, dad, and my younger brother for supporting me throughout this entire process and helping me every step of the way. I would also like to thank Coach Debbie White and Coach Jamie Kane for all their help and continuing my love of the game, and Coach Joanne Hippensteal for being one of my first coaches when I first started playing. Thank you to Coach Jessy Morgan and everyone else at GMU for giving me this opportunity.”
