Bishop Shanahan 2021 defender/midfielder Darby Whalen has made a commitment to play lacrosse at the United States Naval Academy.

Positions: Defense, Midfield

College committed to: Navy

Club team: Phantastix Lacrosse Club

Lacrosse honors: Philadelphia National Team 2018, 2019; Under Armour 150 2018; Philly Showcase All Star Team, Summer 2017 and 2018; Under Armour All-American Uncommitted team 2019; Starting defender on high school team as a freshman, 2017-2018

Academic honors: First and Second Honors

Expected major: Biological & Biomedical Sciences

Why did you choose Navy? “The Naval Academy offers me the right challenge in academics and athletics from a world class institution, as well as the opportunity to serve my country. After visiting the Academy and meeting the coaching staff and the players, I knew that was the family environment I was looking for.”

Is there anything else you would like to share? “Thank you so much to my parents for supporting me, my older brothers for always pushing me to become better, as well as my teammates and friends for being there for me. Special thanks to my coaches, Lorraine Beers and Kacy Small, for everything they’ve done to help me grow as a lacrosse player. “
