The Lafayette men’s lacrosse program has partnered with the HEADstrong Foundation to host the Nick Colleluori Lacrosse Classic at Lafayette, set for October 20 at Fisher Stadium.
The Maroon and White will welcome St. John’s and Drexel to Fisher Stadium for three exhibition contests centered around awareness for the HEADstrong Foundation, an organization with its focus on improving lives for those affected by cancer. The HEADstrong Foundation has impacted 16,700 families, raised $15 million in assistance and built two Nick’s Houses providing more than 2,555 complimentary nights of lodging annually.
“We’re so excited to continue our great partnership with the HEADstrong Foundation by hosting this year’s Nick Colleluori Classic at Lafayette,” head coach Patrick Myers said. “In teaming up with programs like St. John’s and Drexel, we hope to bring as much awareness as possible to the phenomenal work this organization does on a daily basis.
“Additionally, it allows our team the opportunity to put our offseason work to the test and continue to improve as all three of our programs look forward to our 2020 campaigns.”
Each of the three teams will play two full games that afternoon, surrounding a special presentation acknowledging each team and honoring local families battling cancer. The event will be the 13th installment of this event, named after Nicholas Colleluori, a former lacrosse plater at Hofstra who passed away from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2006.
Accompanying the event on October 20 will be a fundraising component, playing a vital role in allowing the HEADstrong Foundation to relentlessly serve families affected by cancer each year. More information on how you can support the cause is available here.
