La Salle women’s lacrosse mourns loss of Brittany Stevens

La Salle University was deeply saddened to learn Monday of the death of women’s lacrosse junior student-athlete Brittany Stevens, 20.

Brittany, of Catonsville, MD., played in 13 games as a sophomore attack, starting seven. She dished out a career-high nine assists and recorded five goals and 14 points.

Said La Salle Director of Athletics & Recreation Brian Baptiste: “We are absolutely heartbroken and devastated by the sudden passing of La Salle family member and women’s lacrosse student-athlete Brittany Stevens. Our love and thoughts are with her family, teammates and friends. Brittany made such a meaningful impact on our community. Our department and University is focused on supporting those on our campus who have been affected by this tragedy.”

Said Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach Katie Rhodes Abbott: “Brittany was a dedicated young woman who was committed to serving the University and those around her. This is a devastating loss for our lacrosse family. We will miss her enormously.”
