From Press Release

A dominant second half defensive effort and a strong day from Greg Gurenlian (Springfield-Delco, Penn State) at the faceoff X helped Redwoods past Chaos, 12-7, at Red Bull Stadium in Harrison, N.J., Saturday and into the inaugural Premier Lacrosse League championship game.

Redwoods will meet Whipsnakes Saturday, Sept. 21, at Chester’s Talen Energy Stadium for the title at 2:30 p.m. (NBC TV).

Chaos had the league’s best regular season record, but again faltered in the third quarter.

Last weekend, Chaos was outscored by Whipsnakes, 8-0, in the third quarter in a 15-7 winner’s bracket loss. On Saturday, Chaos had rallied to tie the game 6-6 at halftime, but went scoreless in the third quarter as Redwoods scored four straight to take a 10-6 lead.

Gurenlian added five groundballs for Redwoods, which got five goals each from Matt Kavanaugh, Jules Heningburg, Ryder Gamsey. Joe Walters and Sergio Perkovic.

Tim Troutner, a rookie out of High Point, made eight of his 12 saves in the second half for Redwood.
