After aiding the Boston University women’s lacrosse team to a spring break sweep, sophomore Emily Vervlied was honored by the Patriot League as the Midfielder of the Week, as announced Monday.

Emily Vervlied

Vervlied was outstanding on both ends of the field as BU earned a pair of road wins at Temple and Lehigh. She started the week off by netting her first career hat trick, including delivering the game-winning goal with 4:32 left to play, as part of a career-best four-point game against the Owls.

The sophomore followed by forcing five caused turnovers, winning four draw controls and collecting three ground balls in BU’s Patriot League opener. The Lower Gwynedd native also tacked on a pair of goals as part of a six-points week to guide the Terriers to their first win against the Mountain Hawks since 2015.

Navy’s Valenti (Boyertown) is Defensive POW

Marie Valenti, Navy, Sr., Defender, Bechtelsville, Pa./Boyertown Area
Valenti recorded six ground balls and four caused turnovers to help a Navy defensive unit that held Colgate to six goals in an 18-6 win.
*Her six ground balls is a season high and tied a career best.
*She is one caused turnover shy of becoming the sixth player in Patriot League history to accumulate 100 or more career caused turnovers.
